Atlas: Progressive Nostalgia
Publication Design
November 2023
A chapter contribution to Atlas, the MFA 2025 cohorts‘ collaborative publication that maps out everyone’s own physical, emotional, and spiritual position in situ and ex situ.
My chapter discusses the concept of progressive nostalgia— an emotional state that anticipates feeling nostalgic for moments still unfolding in the present. This work examines the notion from multiple perspectives, weaving together visual elements such as fragmented, manipulated photographs, pixel and glitch motifs, and typographic outlines or layouts reminiscent of past designs. These elements evoke fleeting moments of nostalgia within the reading experience while disrupting a linear narrative flow.
